A Fantastic Evening in Red: Rotary Central Cayman Islands & Rotaract Unite for End Polio Now
On Friday, November 14th, our Rotary Central Cayman Islands family came together for an unforgettable evening at Craft on West Bay Road. From 6pm to 9pm, the venue glowed in shades of red as many members, friends, and supporters turned out in full force for our Wear Red fundraiser: an event proudly hosted in partnership with our fantastic Rotaract Club of Grand Cayman.
16 Teams of four joined the evening’s friendly competition for US $50 per team, bringing laughter, fellowship, and spirited challenge to the room. Beyond the fun, everyone understood the deeper purpose behind the event: raising funds and awareness for a cause that is central to Rotary’s identity: the global eradication of polio.
Rotary International has long been recognised worldwide for its leadership in the fight to end polio. Through its global partnerships and decades of commitment, polio is now 99% eradicated. Yet the final 1% requires unwavering dedication, and that is where events like ours make a meaningful impact. I am delighted to report that together we raised over US $1,000 for End Polio Now, strengthening Rotary’s ongoing work to protect every child, everywhere. This money will be shared with Rotaract.
This successful evening was made possible by the fantastic teamwork of our International Service Committee. Special appreciation goes to RT Lissette, RT Nelson, and PE Dave, whose energy and commitment helped shape the event. A heartfelt thank-you to PP Pat for his invaluable guidance, supported by PP William. Our gratitude also extends to Secretary Emily, and to our incomparable Quizmaster, RT Martin, whose enthusiasm kept the competition lively and engaging. And of course, the indomitable Director Allison, whose leadership and drive truly elevated the entire effort.
To Rotaract colleagues, everyone who attended, volunteered, participated, or simply came out to support: thank you. Your presence and generosity helped make the evening sensational, and together we continue to embody the Rotary spirit: service above self, united in purpose, and committed to making a lasting difference.
Keeping the fight against Polio Alive!
