Rotary Central Donates Mobile Blood Collection Unit to HSA

For over three decades, Rotary Central Cayman Islands has been at the forefront of community service and health advocacy, making a meaningful impact in the Cayman Community. Since the 1990s, our club has remained a steadfast partner of the Cayman Islands Health Services Authority (HSA) Blood Bank, recognizing that a safe and sustainable blood supply is a cornerstone of public health.
Blood donation is a life-saving act, and ensuring accessibility for donors is key to sustaining a robust national blood reserve. Over the years, Rotary Central has led multiple initiatives to promote blood donation, from public awareness campaigns to blood donor appreciation events, helping build a culture of voluntary giving in the Cayman Islands. Our long-standing support has been driven by the belief that no patient in need of blood should ever face a shortage.
Our commitment to securing a Mobile Blood Donor Unit is the next step in making blood donation more accessible, increasing our national donor pool, and reducing reliance on imported blood. This game- changing initiative will make blood donation more accessible, efficient, and convenient for donors across all districts. With the Cayman Islands’ growing population and increased medical needs, this unit will expand the donor pool, reduce dependency on imported blood, and enhance national health security.
Rotary Central has invested over $60,000 in blood donor recruitment, education, and infrastructure over the years, and we were committed to leading the charge in raising the necessary funds for this vital initiative. We thank the businesses and individuals that joined us in making this project a reality—because together, we can build a stronger, healthier Cayman Islands. Know that your donations will save many lives for years to come. Let us encourage our friends, colleagues and indeed the general public to go out and donate, it will save lives. It is truly a selfless act of giving.
