From May 15–19, Rotary Central embarked on a meaningful mission to Jamaica, successfully completing two major health projects under Rotary’s international service initiative. Guided by the Rotary themes — Create Hope in the World, The Magic of Rotary, and Unite for Good — the team made a lasting impact in the rural community of Lime Hall, St. Ann.

Creating Hope:

Rotary Central formally adopted the Lime Hall Health Centre through Jamaica’s Adopt-a-Clinic program. This small but vital facility serves women and children with services such as maternal care, family planning, and child health. Rotary Central made a full donation of essential medical equipment in just one year — a feat typically spread over three. Contributions included water tanks, air conditioning units, an AED, waiting area furniture, and medical tools — greatly enhancing the center’s capacity and comfort.

The Magic of Rotary:

On May 18, Rotary Central hosted a free health screening day at the centre, serving 125 patients with services including blood pressure, cholesterol, and BMI checks, dental cleanings and extractions, Pap smears, HIV testing, and mental health counselling. Volunteers included local student nurses, members from Rotary Ocho Rios, and healthcare professionals. The event highlighted the power of collaboration and the hands-on dedication that defines Rotary.

Uniting for Good:

This mission united a diverse team from the Cayman Islands, Jamaica, Canada, the Bahamas, Trinidad, and South Africa. The collaboration extended to volunteers from Doctors Hospital and the Health Services Authority. Beyond the hard work, members bonded through local excursions and cultural events, reinforcing the spirit of global fellowship.

Looking Ahead:

Our next health mission, returns to Bamboo, St. Ann tentatively  April 2026. Meanwhile, the work in Lime Hall continues — there’s still more to do for the clinic and community.
