Empowering Health: Highlights from the 13th Annual Diabetes Awareness Health Screening
Rotary Central, in collaboration with the Health Services Authority (HSA) and the Lions Club of Tropical Gardens, successfully hosted the 13th Annual Diabetes Awareness Health Screening event, marking another milestone in our commitment to community health. This collaborative effort provided 159 individuals with comprehensive screenings for diabetes, hypertension, anemia, obesity, and dyslipidemia, aiming to identify and address potential health concerns early.
This year, the Lions Club of Tropical Gardens enhanced the initiative by offering free glucometers, testing strips, diabetes-focused equipment, and educational reading materials to those in need. Rotary Central also supported the community by distributing complimentary blood sugar monitoring logbooks, reinforcing the importance of consistent health management.
A key emphasis of this year’s screening was on the critical role of the Glycosylated Hemoglobin (HBA1C) test in monitoring long-term blood sugar control. By prioritizing this test, we aimed to empower individuals with the knowledge to manage their health more effectively.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of this project. Your dedication makes a real difference. We look forward to continuing this impactful work at our Island-wide Health Screening in March 2025 and our International Health Screening in Jamaica, scheduled for May 15-19, 2025. Together, we are creating healthier communities!
